Jazz pianist Marina Albero, originally from Spain, grew up in a traveling musical family. She moved to Seattle with her two children in 2014, where she quickly became a beloved figure in the local music scene through her vibrant performances. As a piano instructor at Cornish College of the Arts, she further enriched the community. Her prolific musical contributions have earned her multiple accolades from Seattle’s Earshot Jazz, including two Golden Ear awards for Musician of the Year (2019 and 2022), Acoustic Ensemble of the Year (2021 for the Marina Albero Trio), and Album of the Year (2019 for “A Life Soundtrack”).
Marina Albero continues her global musical journey with her new album, “A Nomad of Sound.” This Barcelona-born pianist embarks on an exciting international adventure with a release inspired by the freedom to explore. “A Nomad of Sound,” written and recorded during a self-designed musical residency in New Orleans in early 2024, marks the beginning of an ambitious new chapter in her lifelong musical odyssey.
The album was released on November 3rd, coinciding with a performance by Albero during the final days of Seattle’s Earshot Jazz Festival. It is available on CD and digital platforms, with a vinyl edition to follow soon.
