Thanks to you for the opportunity to introduce me to the American public.
Hi, Emanuela! Thank you for granting the interview. We’re excited to chat about your body of work! Tell us about your latest production.
The project I’m currently working on is a screenplay for a docufilm from my book Grace of Monaco written with Craig Peritz ( American screenwriter) and Edoardo Montanari ( Italian reporter).
A Solu’s manifest ( the title of the work) tells the life of Grace Kelly which as an actress becomes a Princess of Monaco. For the first time, unveil Grace’s human face, beyond the glamor, the soul of a woman engaged as a mother, wife and princess, and humanitarian politics in favor of the weaker ones that made Monaco a humanitarian kingdom.
In 2001, I met Nick Sevano, manager of Frank Sinatra who told me about Grace kelly. After reading an article from Prince Albert in New York with the Grace Kelly Foundation to help the Twin Tower Victims … I was there. So the idea of writing the book was born.
Which medium do you love the most: television or film?
Difficult to answer: It’s like asking a mom who one of her children prefers: TV makes you popular: with it you go right into the homes of people. Surely the work on TV is different from the movie set. Working with a live television is riskier: you can not go wrong and repeat the action like on a movie set. But the thrill you get from a movie set is unique. Like when I worked in a historical film. The setting and the costumes of the scene brought me back in time, in a time out of space. I love the theater and the music so that’s why I started singing. And gospel music allows me to express my spirituality. Television, cinema, and theater are 3 different forms of artistic expression and I try to use it best for my training.
You have starred in several productions. How have the appearances shaped your career?
I learned many things: first of all how to move in front of a camera, how to catch the light. While gesture and communication are exalted in the theater, motion and acting must be softer in motion.
The cinema is made of pictures and an expressive face is all. There is no need to exalt things in video but have as it is said in Italy a face that pierces the screen. Of course, then the interpretation of a character is fundamental. The actor must make true what he says. When I play a character, digging in my unconscious, in my life experiences and I use this bag of experience to give intensity what I represent at that time on the set.
Your career is soaring. Are you happy with the direction it’s going in, thus far?
In this work you never end up learning and reaching a goal there is always another goal to achieve. The obstacles are always many, but this allows me a sure adrenaline journey. I ‘m preparing for an international jump in my career. My American dream is to live and work in Los Angeles. That’s why I have close relationships with international productions. Meritocracy is surely more appreciated abroad than in my own Country.
Is there a particular role you would love to play in a production?
I would like to interpret the role of fate, a character (not real) that I wrote right in the script A Soul’s Manifest. I also hope one day that I can direct and play my own movie as did great Barbara Streisand.
Thus far, what has been the best experience working in the entertainment industry?
My best work experience was when I worked on the UV278 American set of direct by Robin Ritter and Cristian Voss, where I was playing an Italian spy.
Do you have any upcoming projects that we haven’t mentioned?
Yes of course: I’ll be back soon to work on an American set directed by an Italian director, where I’ll play a cia agent. A very strong role because the film is about terrorism. In the cast there are Hollywood actors. I’m also working on the development of my movie on Grace of Monaco, which I hope will be the director. This project speaks of several humanitarian and charitable associations of Princess Grace. Grace has worked to transform the Principality with various cultural initiatives such as the Television Festival that brings many stars of the TV every year. She contributed to spreading a love message by setting up many humanitarian associations such as AMADE for African children.
The Princess Grace Foundation is one of the most important things that Princess Grace has created. The association operates both in the social and cultural fields. It offers scholarships for dance, it is dealing with several hospitals and through it Prince Albert donated money to the victims of the Twin Towes in America in New York. Every year in the city there is a Gala where the most important American stars are participating. In Monte-Carlo, in August the dance of the Red Cross is an event not to be missed for fundraising for various humanitarian causes.
This is the humanitarian political of Principality of Monaco which the Princess Grace has created.
Complete this sentence, if I had an opportunity to do anything I want, I would do ___________.
My goal… I’ve been working for many years and coming back to America with a new movie about Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco, because I think the story that tells my project is unpublished. Many things have been said about this woman. In 2013 a film was made by Americans with Nicole Kidman on the Princess, but this film did not capture the true essence of this woman.
I think the world has not yet known the true Grace of Monaco and the message she wanted to pass on with her life and her work.
This is my mission!
