Born in Czechoslovakia, Mila gained an MA degree in Art, English Language, and Psychology at Charles University in Prague, whilst simultaneously studying for her BA degree in Fine Art Printmaking at the University of Gloucestershire. Known for her work for Coldplay’s album ‘Ghost Stories’, Mila will be exhibiting etchings for two of the Czech Republic’s most-loved works of literature at the Czech Embassy in London.

Inaugurated by the Czech Ambassador, Mrs. Marie Chatardová, Mila’s original works for Kytice will be exhibited in their entirety, along with notebooks and conversations with the publisher, giving further insight into the artist’s creative process. Mila will also exhibit the new illustrations for Babicka (The Grandmother), by Bozena Nemcova – the most frequently read book of all time in the Czech Republic.

Published by Odeon, Babicka is being released worldwide on December 1st, 2021. The new book will be available for the first time in London and Mila will be available to sign copies.

Discussing the new release, the artist said: “Babicka” for me, is a matter of my heart. The tenderness and love with which Bozena Nemcova writes about her grandmother strongly resonate with my own memories of my grandmother. This book celebrates in a timeless way the profound love grandmothers can give their grandchildren as a gift that stays within us all our lives.”

The exhibition runs from the 10th of December to the 15th of January. For further details please visit the Embassy of the Czech Republic 26 – 30 Kensington Palace Gardens London W8 4QY or its website https://www.mzv.cz/london
