Drew Taylor
Canadian-born, Nashville-bred rising country star Drew Taylor is back with his infectious new single, “Makers” – a slow-burning ballad that likens the spark of unexpected chemistry to the warmth of a good whiskey. With its rich imagery and heartfelt storytelling, the track captures the irresistible pull of falling deep, one sip and one moment at a time.
Recently signed to independent record label T&L Records Nashville, Taylor is no stranger to momentum. With a string of chart-topping hits and streaming success already behind him, he’s been quietly – and consistently – paving his road to stardom one song at a time. It’s been a long time coming, but with “Makers” and a wave of new music on the horizon, the proof is very much in the pour.
.
“From that first pour to the last dance, she hits him like a smooth Kentucky blend, warm, intoxicating, and hard to shake,” Drew explains. “Every sip and every kiss blur the line between whiskey buzz and falling in love. In the end, she leaves her mark just like that red wax – permanent, bold, and impossible to forget.”
.
Born in Waterloo, Ontario, Taylor’s path to country music was anything but typical. Growing up in Canada with dreams of The Music City, he had music in his blood – his father performed alongside country legends like George Strait and Kenny Rogers. Yet Drew’s early years on stage looked very different: he fronted a Screamo band, sharing bills with heavyweights like Underoath and Atreyu, before eventually trading breakdowns for ballads.
.
For a time, he balanced life as a fireman and entrepreneur, but music refused to stay a side hustle. Determined to carve out his place as a singer-songwriter, he doubled down on his craft and began stacking wins. In 2022, he was crowned the Wildcard Winner of the Boots & Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase (presented by Coors Original Canada and Universal Music Canada), performing on the festival’s Front Porch stage. In 2023, his single “Wish I Didn’t” hit #1 on SiriusXM’s Top of the Country, and by early 2025, “Nobody I Know” had cracked over 250,000 streams on Spotify alone, sparking an indie buzz that’s hard to ignore.
.
With “Makers,” Drew Taylor proves he’s more than just a name to watch – he’s a powerful reminder that the future of Country music is being built by artists who honour its storied past while fearlessly pouring themselves into every line.
