The singer-songwriter Lucy Morgan co-wrote this track with her producer and dear friend, John Fellner on a trip. The origins of the track stem from an experience only a few days before when her ex, from what become a toxic relationship, unexpectedly reached out. Lucy shares the painful fact that leaving her was one of the hardest things she had to do, but it was the only way she could find a way back to a positive trajectory in life.
Surrounded by the beauty of Northern Ontario, Lucy became deeply reflective, contemplating whether to respond to her ex or remain silent. She confides, ‘I felt I had finally gotten to a place of peace and closure in my life, and while it was tempting to take that step back, I knew in my gut that it would never be what I wished it could be’. She continues, ‘Once I was able to get to a place of true acceptance and healing, I shifted as an artist. When I get up in front of an audience, I know that I am good at what I do’.
