We Are Like Coloured Moths Towards The Sunlight is the first full-length album by baroque pop singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Valerio Lysander. Lysander was among the 10 nominees for Best Male in the Best of British Unsigned Awards. In 2017 he was among the finalists of the Coffee Music Project and Pride’s Got Talent, and performed in Trafalgar Square for Pride in London.
Following a successful crowd funding campaign on Kickstarter, the 13 track album was released in July 2018. The album is a self produced collection of self penned songs arriving 4 years after Valerio’s debut EP and the release of 5 singles, two of which have been aired on BBC Radio.
The album focuses on the struggles that we take on when we follow our passions, love, dreams, relationships, identity, career and society. It is a mature and memorable release from the singer/songwriter, fusing pop and folk with classical and orchestral arrangements. This is particularly showcased with Moon, the first track of the album, where his strong mature delivery as a singer is gainfully supported by the intricately woven textures of harpsichords and string quartets. We Are Like Coloured Moths Towards the Sunlight is distinctive in its sequence of tracks that deservedly allow Valerio Lysander to mark his own identity and place on the baroque pop scene.
