Hailing from Miami, Florida, Mustard Service is an indie rock band with a self-proclaimed “zest pop” sound that defies conventional boundaries. Drawing from an eclectic mix of rock, surf, jazz, funk, and bossa nova, the band infuses their music with rich Cuban, Uruguayan, Argentinian, and Mexican influences, creating a vibrant and unique sonic palette.
The trio consists of Marco Rivero Ochoa on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Leo Cattani on keyboard, and Adam Perez on drums. Their Latin heritage is woven deeply into their music, with many tracks featuring Spanish lyrics and lively Latin rhythms that celebrate their cultural roots.
Their latest single, “Conversation Overtime,” dives into the emotionally charged space where communication begins to fracture. The song explores the delicate tipping point between a productive discussion and a full-blown argument, where unspoken words and unresolved tension linger. With its mellow groove, introspective lyrics, and smooth, plucky guitars, the track captures the discomfort of escalating conflict. Speaking about the song, the band explains, “At what point does a discussion become an argument? We call this point the conversation overtime—a moment where neither party can argue in good faith, and communication devolves into a shouting match or an avoidant cold shoulder, both equally uncomfortable.“
Produced and engineered by Chad Copelin (known for his work with Wilderado, Broncho, Avril Lavigne, and Sasha Sloan), “Conversation Overtime” combines soothing velvet vocals, a catchy melody, and a laid-back vibe, effortlessly blending emotional depth with easygoing charm.
Mustard Service has built a strong presence in the indie music scene, having opened for Bombay Bicycle Club and headlined sold-out shows at Los Angeles’ iconic El Rey Theatre multiple times. With millions of streams, a devoted fanbase, and a dynamic live reputation, the band is poised for a breakout year as they gear up for their nationwide tour and the release of more compelling music.
