Renowned for his dynamic musicianship and genre-spanning career, New Jersey guitarist Jon Fadem is set to captivate listeners with the release of his latest single and his highly anticipated album, ‘Thankful’. Fadem’s journey through the music world has been nothing short of impressive—he’s studied at the esteemed Oberlin College and Conservatory, formed an original funk band featured in Dean Budnick’s acclaimed book Jam Bands: North America’s Hottest Live Bands, and graced the stage alongside legends like George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic, Bernie Worrell, and Buddy Miles of Jimi Hendrix’s Band of Gypsys.
With ‘Thankful’, Jon Fadem steps into the spotlight as a true multi-instrumentalist, taking charge of guitar, bass, keyboards, mandolin, and dulcimer. He’s joined by the exceptional John Kimock (known for his work with Mike Gordon of Phish and Oteil Burbridge of Dead and Company) on drums, creating a rich, collaborative soundscape. The album’s production is equally impressive, co-mixed with celebrated mix engineer Phil Joly (Common, Daft Punk, Lana Del Rey, The Strokes) and mastered by the acclaimed Heba Kadry (Björk, Sade, Bon Iver, Ryuichi Sakamoto), promising an evocative listening experience that reflects Jon’s artistic vision.

Reflecting on the making of ‘Thankful’, Jon shares, “This album is a collection of original, guitar-oriented instrumental songs taken from different periods in my life. After many years of playing and touring nationally with different cover bands, I decided to make an album of my own music, and it is a very personal project to me. It took countless hours over two years to complete this album, and to make sure it sounded exactly how I wanted it to sound. I played all of the instruments myself, with the exception of drums and percussion, which were played by John Kimock. The template for the overall sound of the album was my favorite music from the seventies, specifically these three albums: Jeff Beck’s ‘Blow by Blow’, Stevie Wonder’s ‘Talking Book’, and Joni Mitchell’s ‘The Hissing of Summer Lawns.’ I wanted it to be an album that people would enjoy listening to, whether sitting down and immersing themselves or letting it become the soundtrack to their day. Either way, I sincerely hope that people like it, and that it finds a welcome home in people’s lives.”

‘Thankful’ promises melodies and grooves that are both nostalgic and refreshingly original, inviting listeners to discover new layers with every play. Fadem’s dedication to his craft and his heartfelt approach to songwriting shine through, ensuring this album will resonate with music lovers across genres. Stay tuned for the full album drop—Jon Fadem’s ‘Thankful’ is set to become an essential addition to your playlist and a testament to the enduring power of instrumental music.
