Born on September 22, 2005, Simone Miller is a singer/songwriter and actress from Toronto, Canada.  From a young age, Simone has always enjoyed being a performer and has sung since she was able to speak. Simone’s life in the spotlight began at the young age of 10 and she was fortunate to quickly book many commercials and game shows early in her career.  Her first big break came when she was cast as the lead; Raign Westbrook in the CBC web series; Detention Adventure, which continued for 3 seasons.   Since then, she has been cast as young “Dorinda Clark” in the Lifetime movie “The Clark Sisters” (executive producers include Queen Latifah and Mary J. Blige), in the hilarious “Workin Moms”, animated PBS children’s series “Pinkalicious” and just completed filming the second season of the family-friendly and fun-loving “Run The Burbs” as Mannix.

Simone has been working diligently towards writing and composing her own original music and has released three original songs to date entitled, Dry Eyes, Older, and Acquaintance. Along with two music videos, one of which she conceptualized and co-directed at 16 years old! In June of 2022, Simone landed her biggest gig to date by opening up for the legendary “Blue Rodeo” and the iconic “The Arkells”.

Thank you for agreeing to catch up with Occhi Magazine. For readers unfamiliar with you and your background, what drew you to a career in the arts?

Ever since I was young, I was drawn to music. It seemed like a natural calling, as I was singing before I could speak! I was particularly inspired by Stevie Wonder, and growing up in a household of music lovers only further fueled my passion. I became obsessed with watching movies and it wasn’t long before my mom suggested that I try acting. Thankfully, I was given the opportunity to be part of so many incredible productions that allowed me to broaden my horizons and eventually led me back to my first love – music. Attending an arts high school only further motivated me to pursue my passion, and at the age of 14, I released my debut single, “Older.”

Who were your early influencers and how did they impact your career

My mom is my earliest and most significant influence when it comes to pursuing music. Her support and encouragement are always a driving force throughout my life. With a strong background in the arts herself, she instilled in me the belief that one should always pursue what they truly love. My mom constantly encourages my passion and always reminds me that I was made for the arts and that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible.

Which three traits define you?

Passionate, ambitious, and sentimental

Please tell us about your latest project

My latest project is an upcoming single. It’s upbeat but encapsulates the feeling of being overwhelmed. That’s all I’m sharing for now. Stay tuned!

What other projects are in the pipeline?

I’m always working on new music! However, my biggest project right now is trying to graduate from high school! The majority of my high school experience has been on different sets and productions, so this year I want to enjoy my senior year!
