Bennet De Brabandere’s Ankle Biters is currently on digital release via Dark Star Pictures. This film is definitely a fresh and alternative take on the horror-thriller genre. Sean (Zion Forrest Lee), a pro hockey enforcer, has fallen in love with Laura (Marianthi Evans), a widowed mother of four young daughters. When Laura’s children mistake an act of lovemaking for an attack, they plot to protect their mother at all costs and with horrific results. The plot and performances are alluring, particularly from the children, who are very convincing as disturbed and evil terrors. Disturbing from the start, with an inappropriate music score from the convicted rapist and pedophile Gary Glitter, the film leaves a haunting impression of how children may react to widowed parents welcoming strangers into the family. This is one to watch if you think children can never be evil!
