From writer and director Morihito Inoue comes *Hot Spring Shark Attack*, a comical B-movie horror film in the vein of *Sharknado* and *2-Headed Shark Attack.*
The story begins when bodies are discovered, naked and mauled, around Spa Resort Atsumi. The Mayor, Kanichi Managan, does everything in his power to divert attention from the deaths, hoping to boost tourism and revenue for the city. However, his efforts are overshadowed by the increasing number of casualties. Marine biologist Mayumi Kose is called in as an expert to assist the police. When it is revealed that the sharks are from the Cenozoic era and thought to be extinct, they discover that the sharks’ unique physiology allows them to navigate through the hot spring pipes. The sharks attack and drag their victims down into the underground spring network.
.

As the city is placed under quarantine, the sharks evolve to swim not only through seawater but also through sand and concrete pavements, generating pools of water via the hot springs whenever there is a water outage. They ambush and devour people at will. To make matters worse, the sharks produce methane gas from their stomachs and generate an electromagnetic field, allowing them to appear suddenly, electrocute victims, and even blow them up before consuming them. And if anyone tries to escape, the sharks will chase them down the street!
After the Chief of Police is bitten by a shark and contracts an ancient pathogenic infection (which causes him to glow purple intermittently), the Mayor, Mayumi, and a nameless strong man known as “Macho” devise a plan. They need to obtain a vaccine extracted from a shark fin to save the Chief and destroy the sharks once and for all.

Using a 3D-printed submarine, they submerge into the depths of the sea and confront the sharks. While “Macho” boxes and uppercuts the sharks with his fists, the Mayor and Mayumi fire harpoons from within the submarine.
Things seem to be going well until the Shark King emerges (he’s labeled a king because he wears a crown). The group must quickly come up with a new plan. Hot Spring Shark Attack is an entertaining comedic B-movie horror that embodies the spirit of this genre. With eye-rolling, exaggerated CGI, dummy props, and over-the-top acting, it’s sure to please fans of this type of film. If you enjoy this genre, then this movie is right up your alley!
