German-Argentinian vocalist and composer Sabeth Pérez has built a notable career that bridges continents and genres. Making her recording debut at just 12, Pérez began with South American folkloric music, her clear voice complementing the complexity of large ensemble arrangements. Since then, she has collaborated with respected groups such as the WDR Big Band, Frankfurt Radio Big Band, Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, and EOS Chamber Orchestra. A recent highlight includes her featured performance with the WDR Big Band and Grammy-winning composer Billy Childs at the Cologne Philharmonic.

Pérez’s academic journey took her to New York, where she completed her Master’s Degree in Jazz Voice in 2020, supported by a DAAD scholarship and grants from the German Ministry of Culture. In the past three years, she has worked alongside musicians and conductors, including John Beasley, Jim McNeely, the Uptown Jazz Tentet, Lula Galvão, Henry Cole, Luciano Biondini, and Jon Cowherd—further establishing her as a versatile and sought-after collaborator.

Her latest album, Searching for Beauty, is a thoughtful exploration of modern jazz, reinterpreting folkloric textures with a contemporary approach. Pérez describes the album as “a homage to the quiet wonders that surround us—if we only pause to see them.” She reflects, “I see it as my everlasting duty to spend my life searching for beauty, beauty to absorb my mind. Flurries of humility, like white noise. Solace in the thought this is not caused (but just is). Grace has lost its place, baffled by our pointless race—against whom anyways? We call it prayer, rule or resolution. Everyone seeks absolution.”
.
The music on Searching for Beauty examines themes of impermanence, human connection, and the fleeting moments where beauty surfaces—in memories, landscapes, and simply being present. With this release, Pérez continues to refine her sound, offering listeners a nuanced and contemporary perspective on jazz and beyond.
