We’ve had the pleasure of interviewing French actress, model, and voice-over artist Rachel Kylian a few times. Her film and TV credits include  Universal’s comedy Almost Christmas,  Interpreters, and  Michael Angelo Covino’s  The Climb. We caught up with her to discuss her latest project as a producer of the short ‘Epiphany’. The film is part of this year’s Burbank International Film Festival 2022 lineup.

Rachel, thank you for agreeing to catch up with Occhi Magazine.  You’ve been busy since we last spoke. Congratulations on being selected for the Burbank International Film Festival 2022. Please tell us more about your film Epiphany and what audiences can expect.

Epiphany is a five-minute short film about a complicated relationship between siblings. I wanted to create something different from my first film It’s Time (dark comedy about death). Epiphany is a drama and the message behind the film is to be careful who you share your good news with. The film was directed by Anton Gaskell and stars Jamal Dennis and Shah Granville. Epiphany was produced by myself, Anton Gaskell, Real Carrera, Jean-Baptiste Lovensky, and Naida Abdillahi Hersi, cinematography by Anton Gaskell, and music by Skander Chairat and Gino Mariotti. I am very happy that the film is a semi-finalist and will premiere at the Burbank International Film Festival 2022. The audience can expect a beautiful story that anyone can relate to and amazing music. We had an international team working on this film so I cannot wait for the public to see our work.

This is the second film you’ve produced. Please tell us more about the production schedule and filming conditions.

We shot the film outdoors in Los Angeles during the pandemic in December 2021, on a weekend before everyone left for the holidays. We were a small crew and allowed to film at that time, there were no filming restrictions in LA despite the high risk of COVID-19 infection. Delta and Omicron variants were spreading rapidly, however, our desire to make this film was stronger.

What other projects are you working on?

I just wrapped a movie called Lipstick. I played Lieutenant London Brooks, opposite Monti Washington and Camille Winbush. The film was directed, written, and produced by Kimberly Conner.

I was recently seen on Promised Land on ABC/Hulu that just received an Imagen Awards nomination for Best Primetime Program – Drama.

Congratulations on the nomination. Where can our readers find out more about you?

Epiphany

The fourteenth annual Burbank International Film Festival takes place September 8th-11th screening over 180 films from around the world in over 25 countries.
