Victory Productions Network releases its first feature film originating from a web series. Augusta, GA. Victory Productions Network has sold one of its most-viewed web series to Maverick Movies, an independent distribution company that focuses on films produced by independent filmmakers across the nation. Maverick Movies distributes to several digital streaming services including Amazon Prime, Fandango NOW, Vudu, and Tubi.
After being an official selection at the 2019 Miami Web Fest, Sweet Mahogany was selected as a winner of the National Distribution Award that was awarded by Maverick Movies. Sweet Mahogany
had two seasons (10 episodes) on the Victory Productions YouTube page garnering a total of over 100,000 views before being picked up to be turned into a feature-length film.
“This opportunity came at a crazy time,” Karlton T. Clay, Founder of Victory Productions, recalls. “Due to unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances, the Victory Productions YouTube page was terminated by YouTube, but I knew that I had this huge opportunity coming so it allowed me the chance to breathe new life into a project that had already been seen. However, now we are treating Sweet Mahogany as a film and no longer a web series, and watching it in the form that it is now, it feels brand new. It’s a whole new vibe.”Sweet Mahogany has been officially released by Maverick Movies and can be seen on Amazon Prime, Fandango NOW, and Vudu.
The sequel is in the works and a release date will be announced at a later time. Sweet Mahogany stars Jessica Aiken Lark, Kineh N’Gaojia, Ronza Bee, Michael Mykkel, Keshia R.
