Toronto-based artist Taya Marquis has released the video for her latest single Chosen, an R&B melody that encompasses strength, vulnerability, and a focus on raising standards in all aspects of life.

Creating a sense of reliability with her listeners, the track represents wanting a better life and encouraging individuals to project towards their aspirations. Taya reflects on her own life experiences through the lyrical styling of this track, and although “Chosen” describes a relationship where a man only wants to have a good time, the sentiment behind the song reaches beyond that.

Known for her photographic work in FLARE, Lez Spread the Word, and NOW! Toronto, Roya DelSol makes her video directorial debut. Delsol successfully captures Taya’s raw emotions which comfortably support the theme of the video.

“This song is about wanting to be chosen by all the good stuff: Chosen by God. Chosen by my partner. Chosen by my friends. Chosen by my career,” said Taya Marquis. “I want to stop chasing, and just take a water break. I want to know that whatever I am pursuing, it is also pursuing me back just as hard. Because only then what is meant for me will become my destiny. I want this single to encourage listeners to know that everyone deserves to be chosen.”

“Chosen” is found on Taya’s latest EP entitled i’mperfect and is now available on all streaming platforms including  Apple MusicGoogle Play MusicSpotify, and Tidal
