The EFG London Jazz Festival is back from Friday, 14 November to Sunday, 23 November 2025,  bringing together world-class artists and emerging stars to showcase the vibrant sounds of jazz from across the globe. This year’s festival shines a spotlight on “Lagos to London”—a dynamic celebration of Nigerian music and culture, and its profound impact on the evolution of UK jazz.

On Sunday 23 November, audiences are invited to immerse themselves in a rich series of performances, interactive workshops, and cultural experiences that explore the rhythms, stories, and legacies connecting Nigeria and the UK. The festival’s “Lagos to London” initiative is set to inspire, educate, and get everyone moving.

Southbank Centre Festival Highlights and Schedule:
  • 1.45pm – 2.15pm: Ọlátúndé Ensemble
    Opening the “Lagos to London” stage, Richard Ọlátúndé Baker leads a new ensemble, uniting three acclaimed talking drummers and vocalists to delve into the vibrant melodies and rhythms of Nigerian music. Baker, a celebrated British-Nigerian musician, has performed alongside legends such as Mulatu Astatke, Tony Allen, and Seun Kuti.
  • 2.30pm – 3pm: Camilla George presents Isang
    Saxophonist, composer, and visionary bandleader Camilla George presents her new commission, “Isang.” Blending Afrofuturism, hip-hop, and jazz, her music draws deeply from her Nigerian heritage. For this special performance, George reimagines her sound for a jazz big band of amateur musicians, who have been rehearsing together throughout the festival.
  • 3pm – 4pm: Dare Balogun DJ Set
    DJ and NTS Radio resident Dare Balogun explores the global journey of African music with his project “Roots to Rhythm,” tracing its origins from West and Central Africa to its powerful influence on the world stage..
  • 4pm – 5pm: Orii Community
    The Orii Community brings their signature weekly jam sessions to the festival, creating a space for spiritual connection, musical expression, and celebration of diasporic creativity. This event honors the continuing influence of Nigerian music on the UK jazz scene..
  • 5pm – 6pm: Dare Balogun DJ Set
    Balogun returns for another electrifying DJ set, keeping the energy high and the dancefloor moving
  • .6pm – 7pm: Bukky Leo and Black Egypt
    Bukky Leo, renowned for his early work with Tony Allen and Fela Kuti, leads Black Egypt—one of the most influential Afrobeat groups outside Nigeria. Their performance promises a powerful journey through the roots and evolution of Afrobeat.
Workshops – Level 5 Function Room, Royal Festival Hall
  • 3pm – 4pm: Youth Talking Drum Workshop (Fri 14 Nov – Sun 23 Nov 2025)
    Led by Richard Ọlátúndé Baker, this creative and hands-on session introduces 7–15-year-olds to traditional African percussion, with a focus on the Yoruba talking drum. The workshop is free, with tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • 5pm – 6pm: Adult Talking Drum Workshop (Fri 14 Nov – Sun 23 Nov 2025)
    Open to anyone aged 16 and above, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore the rhythms and techniques of the talking drum. Participation is free, with tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis.
