The Last Cry tells the story of Samantha, a physically and mentally abused woman, played by Sofia Pellegrino, who embarks on a journey to self-discovery by unraveling her past. What she discovers leads to the unearthing of a mysterious supernatural clan she is connected to by blood.
The film is first set during Samantha’s childhood and centers on her relationship with her father, portrayed by Alejandro Chamorro, her best friend Joy (Meilin Gray), and the mysterious powers of a bracelet. As you can see from an engaging enough trailer, The film attempts to capture the action, drama, and sci-fi genres during its 41-minute run but unfortunately, its delivery is slightly disjointed and absent of energy. Pellegrino’s performance is watchable and the project isn’t a complete car crash, but it fails to succinctly construct an enjoyable feature from the plot and subplots. Moreover, the film’s questionable dialogue, thin characterization, lackluster fight scenes, and wooden acting makes ‘The Last Cry’ overall disappointing.
