
On Friday, February 28, at 7:30 pm at the David Rubenstein Atrium experience a free performance by Afro-Cuban singer-songwriter Daymé Arocena. Renowned for her innovative contributions to the contemporary Latin soul music scene, Arocena has captivated audiences with her powerful voice and creative self-orchestrations. Emerging from the Cuban thaw of the 2010s, the Havana-born artist has delivered a wealth of original music, most notably showcased in her acclaimed 2024 album, “Alkemi.”
NPR praises “Alkemi” as a blend of R&B, bossa nova, funk, and neo-soul, offering a rich tapestry for her dynamic vocals while venturing deeper into Latin pop. At her headlining debut at Lincoln Center’s David Rubenstein Atrium, Arocena and her band will perform selections from “Alkemi” and her extensive catalog, along with some exciting new surprises.
