Brooklyn-born Pianist Richie Beirach and German saxophonist Reiner Witzel have formed a friendship over many years. After collaborating on several concerts and two live releases, the duo release their first studio album, titled ‘ The World Within’.

Richie Beirch, a sideman of Stan Getz, Wayne Shorter, and Freddie Hubbard, started playing the piano at the age of five and was tutored by the renowned pianist and composer James Palmieri during his youth. Discussing the album he shares, “I can say with high confidence that this recording is certainly among the best things we have all done, both separately and together, all the right elements that make a great recording came together to produce this powerful, inspiring music.”

The German saxophonist Reiner Witzel has been an active voice on the international jazz scene for many years, releasing numerous CDs with his bands Witzel’s Venue’ and Drei im roten Krieis’ with guests such as David Sandborn, Lew Soloff, and Vermon Reid to name a few.  He confides, “The music of this new jazz album is both complex and visceral. The World Within wants to appeal not only to the mind but also to the heart.”

Beich and Witzel lead a first-rate international quintet supported by Joscha Oetz on bass, Tobias Frohnhöfer on drums, and Alex Sipiagin, currently one of the world‘s most sought-after trumpeters. The album drops this January 20th.
