Bath-based alt-Americana quartet Young Martyrs are back, unveiling their latest single, ‘Everyone Else Disappears’. The band—featuring Tom Corneill (vocals, guitar), Rich Beeby (bass, vocals), Lee Cole (drums, vocals), and Simon Whitehead (guitar)—has carved out a reputation for heartfelt songwriting and magnetic live performances since their formation in 2020.
Young Martyrs made an immediate splash with their self-titled debut album, released the same year they formed. Their debut headline tour quickly sold out venues across the UK, leading to memorable support slots with Badly Drawn Boy, The Hoosiers, and McFly. Festival fans may also recognize them from standout appearances at Glastonbury and Rock Oyster. Their sophomore album, ‘Time Is Not On Our Side’ (2023), expanded their reach well beyond the UK, with the band playing to audiences across New York City and growing their international following.

Now, Young Martyrs continue their upward trajectory with ‘Everyone Else Disappears’. Produced by Sebastian Brice (Indefra Studios) at the legendary Real World Studios, and featuring additional recording by Ed Oleszko at Vintage Tone Factory, the track delivers a blend of introspective lyrics and nostalgia-tinged melodies. The single explores the ache of unrequited love, capturing the bittersweet longing of wanting something just out of reach. Lead vocalist Tom Corneill shares the inspiration behind the song: “These are the words of someone who has been observing the object of their affection for too long and from too far away. They long to know what life would be like if they could share it together, but that dream feels too distant—there are too many rules and too many obstacles in the way. This song captures the emotion that spills out when the feelings become overwhelming. It reflects the life that could exist if only that person understood what was happening inside the singer’s mind.”
