LoveMojitosHollywood never fails to deliver a great love story. You can’t help but figuratively trip over countless screenplays about love, bliss, and happily ever after. You may even find yourself regurgitating quotes by acclaimed romance authors Nora Roberts, Jane Austen, and Johanna Lindsey.

Love rings triumphantly in the air the month of June, or, at least, the few days leading up to Summer. Countless men and women jockey for position at jewelry counters, attempting to buy the best engagement ring they can afford. They know their partners will showcase their ring in the office the next morning. It’s like some weird art show, where the only thing served is constant admiration with a dash of envy over how large your engagement is. Can you tell I worked in corporate?

Love is like a romantic comedy. The only that matters is how much your partner can make you laugh out loud and appreciate the joy of companionship.

Check out the comical side of love by watching these romantic comedies. They will have you chuckling over the things we do for love.

Arthur (1981)

[su_quote cite=”Arthur”]Everyone who drinks is not a poet. Maybe some of us drink because we’re not poets..[/su_quote]

Arthur Bach (Dudley Moore) is a wealthy New York City playboy who is always inebriated. There’s not a moment where Arthur is sober, much to the dismay of his irritated butler, Hobson (John Gielgud). Hobson is tasked to prepare Arthur for an arranged marriage with heiress Susan Johnson (Jill Eikenberry). Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, he meets a waitress Linda Marolla (Liza Minnelli) from Queens. Arthur falls madly in love with Linda but finds himself in the most significant dilemma of his life. Does he choose love or wealth?

Trading Places (1983)

[su_quote cite=”Billy Ray Valentine”][while acting blind and legless] Hey, baby, what’s happening? How are ya doing? Once you have a man with no legs, you never go back, baby. I know what you’re thinkin’. Is he funky in bed?[/su_quote]

A wager went wrong. A guy finds love in the most unlikely partner. Roles are switched for a better outcome. This is the best way to describe Trading Places, a movie that will have you laughing throughout its entire run. Eddie Murphy plays hustler Billy Ray Valentine. Dan Aykroyd is the uptight Louis Winthorpe III. Dan equally matches Eddie’s humor. The casting is superb.  Mortimer (Don Ameche), Randolph Duke (Ralph Bellamy), and Jamie Lee Curtis (Ophelia) round out the cast.

Knocked Up (2007)

[su_quote cite=”Pete”]Marriage is like a tense, unfunny version of Everybody Loves Raymond, only it doesn’t last 22 minutes. It lasts forever.[/su_quote]

Rising journalist Alison Scott (Katherine Heigl) hits a severe bump in the road after a one-night stand with irresponsible slacker Ben Stone (Seth Rogen). 16 Candles (1984)

[su_quote cite=”The Geek”][to Samantha] Can I borrow your underpants for 10 minutes?[/su_quote]

She’s secretly in love with Jake (Michael Schoeffling) and unknowingly recruits nerdy Ted (Anthony Michael Hall) to help her and Jake hook up.
