Former AWOLNATION bassist, Dave Amezcua has dropped the 80’s inspired Alt/Pop single “She(Zoey Deutch).” An obvious title ode to the beautiful actress and producer, She is a boisterous composition that is actually inspired by Amezcua’s wife.

Discussing the track, Amezcua states, “To me, ‘She (Zoey Deutch)’ is like wrapping yourself in a warm blanket that just came out of the dryer…It just feels good to play and listen to! I had this lyric idea bouncing around ‘She’s my one telephone call,’ which inspired the thought ‘who is the one person I’d call from prison?’ That really became the concept that birthed the idea for this track. The lovely and talented actress Zoey Deutch really has nothing to do with this song, as my wife truly inspired it. But she’s the perfect fictional muse to quench my thirst for 80’s song titles with female names. My wife’s name is Keesha, it would’ve never worked!”

Though known as a bassist, Amezcua considers himself a piano player first. The piano steadily drives this first single from the album ZIMINY. The Los Angeles native is a 10-year veteran musician, touring with bands(most notably AWOLNATION), but has stepped out on his own with this project. The overall project also injects surf and r&b flavor, with a modern twist. With many inspirations, from the Beach Boys to Luther Vandross, the listener is bound to partake in a nostalgic experience minus the feel of being dated. At a time when people are finding music in different sources and seeking various styles of music, this music veteran chose the right time to enter the spotlight. She is surely the single to whet the appetite of an audience craving a multi-genre musical experience.
