Kelly McMichael is a vocalist, songwriter, keyboardist, guitarist, beat-maker, producer, and conductor of great musical forces. From Peterborough ON, based in St John’s NL.. Her new single, “Stepping Stone,” questions how the pursuit of success in the music industry can impact the nature of a relationship. Collaborating with engineer and drummer, Jake Nicoll, She fuses both 60s and 70s classic rock influences with a touch of R&B for the song’s production. Discussing the track, she confides, ‘ The demo featured country guitar, groovy piano, and bass, as well as sounds leaning towards smooth LA rock. The band was brilliant at weaving these sensibilities together, particularly with Maria Peddle’s layers of soaring strings, and we packaged it all in dreamy production.
