Stefanie Parnell’s debut EP Modern Tragedy is out on October 15. The EP is about the challenges in life that transform us. Each song is her analysis of momentous periods in life that have formed who she is today. Her new single, “Breathe,” started as an instrumental track a DJ friend, Morbin, forwarded for a collaboration. The artist confides, ‘After the first listen, the vocal melody came to me right away. At the time, I was going through unforeseen health issues which naturally provoked intense episodes of anxiety. The lyrics allowed me to ease my mind of the paralyzing thoughts.
Even though “Breathe” has taken on many forms over the years, I am grateful for the time I took to allow the song to find its way, leading it to become the experimental product of what it is today. The track is produced by Samuel Woywita (Half Moon Run), Warren Spicer (Plants and Animals), and Mishka Stein (Patrick Watson).
