The Bristol quartet Immerse conquers life’s battles head on with a smile. Behind their fun exterior, the band members have always taken an empathic & positive approach to create music. With two albums under their belt, Immerse has a strong catalog behind them which has rewarded them with a loyal fanbase. Fresh from shows with To Kill Achilles, Values, and Death Blooms, and following on from their huge single ‘Chemical’, Immerse released single ‘Self Destruct’ this week. The band, who have amassed over 2 million streams on Spotify alone across their previous two albums, tour with Dragged Under and Defences around the UK this June to promote the release.

Vocalist Archie Hatfield explains Self destruct is a song about arguing with my own head during the lockdown. I noticed a pattern forming whilst we had to isolate; where I would turn to drinking due to boredom. This led me to a depressive state that was enhanced by the situation we were in. This song is about my battle, and how hard it can be to slip into a bad routine and dig yourself further into that hole.”

Guitarist Tim Brown adds Spending my time on just two singles really made my life easier in regards to developing the songs. I’m usually working on a dozen tracks at the same time which can become draining and unproductive. Writing Self Destruct gave me so much joy as I could really go crazy with synths and implement some cool guitar work. Reworking sections and bouncing ideas of the lads is an important part of the process; Self Destruct started to become alive once I began molding the music around the chorus hook. I’m so stoked with how the final breakdown riff turned out as I constantly developed that part to get it to the level I know I’m capable of. We wanted to make a song that gets the crowd moving and I definitely think we’ve achieved that!”
