This is the first feature film directed by Joanne Mitchell. It premiered at this year’s FrightFest and was listed as one of Metro’s top films to watch. Film Stories described it as “positively captivating,” making it a debut film worth watching.

Sybil Chamberlain is a quiet, creative soul. Her hobbies are taxidermy and poetry. She works in a funeral parlor with the deceased. She likes dead people. They understand her. At just ten years old, she experienced trauma in a tragic accident that took away the family she adored. Now, an aching loneliness prevails in a void that she seeks to fill. But poetry and a vivid imagination provide an escape from the harsh realities of a lonely life.

Sybil is losing touch with reality and becoming increasingly consumed by her dark desires. Her obsession with the deceased takes a disturbing turn. In a horrifying climax of gothic proportions, she finds her own form of happiness and contentment in the company of the dead. Sybil is portrayed by Rebecca Calder (Kandahar/Memory). The film also features James Fleet (Four Weddings & a Funeral), Sacharissa Claxton (Avenue 5), and Jay Taylor (Misfits).

The movie is available in the UK. Look out for digital release dates in the US and Canada.
