Ronnie Wood at HMP 6 Feb 2024 for Ben Waters 50th birthday - Stella Tooth

The first exhibition to showcase artists from the UK public relations (PR) industry, ‘The Art of PR’, will open to the public for a week in London this November at The Coningsby Gallery, London from 18th to 23rd November 2024. This diverse and vibrant exhibition, open to the public and free to view, will display a collection of original contemporary works in various media, including oils, watercolors, pencils, digital art, print design, and photography.  The exhibition, supported by communications agency Boldspace, will also feature live portrait drawings by the artist and PR Joe Thomas in the gallery. In our series of special features, we’re delighted to shine the spotlight on artist Stella Tooth.

Geraldine Sharpe Newton

Stella Tooth is a West London-based figurative artist who loves colour and bringing the stories of those she portrays to life.  Her starting point is a curiosity about humanity – but she has a special interest in performers.  Uniquely, as an ex-print journalist and broadcast news practitioner, she can also tell your stories in words.

Specialising in mixed media artworks, oils, and digital painting, she aims to help you explore and celebrate your stories. They may mark special moments in your own history – or act as a daily reminder of where you belong. Stella’s child portraits chart the progress from tots to teens and strengthen children’s self-esteem and confidence.

John Humphrys Presenter BBC Radio 4 Today

To join up her past and present careers, she has portrayed well-known news broadcasters, such as BBC’s Kate Adie and John Humphrys. Winner of the Judges’ Prize at Egypt’s first biennale (2013), Stella has exhibited at the Milan Expo, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, and National Open Art exhibitions (2015).  She exhibits most Septembers as part of BEAT (the Borough of Ealing Art Trail) open studios.

Her performer art series of work embodies her journalistic love of visual reportage through her choice of buskers and gigging bands as subject matter. And it blends fine art with a more colourful, graphic style. As a resident artist of the iconic music venue, the Half Moon Putney for the past 10 years, Stella has loved producing art of those living life to a rhythm, from household names to newcomers.

Her art offers the thrill of music, comedy, dance, or circus in your home. You can curate your perfect performance with artworks of familiar performers, those you’ve yet to discover or ones that captures the soundtrack of your life or gig experience.

Collaborating with musicians, creating artwork for album covers and posters, and offering a rock star portrait experience for wannabes, Stella, who has taught drawing in the inspiring surrounds of the V&A, National Portrait Gallery, The Courtauld, and Tate Britain, aims to capture your vision.
