Future psych-gaze stars COSM present their debut self-titled EP, crafting an all-encompassing sonic experience that emerges from the remnants of disbanded projects, personal struggles, and transatlantic changes. The band consists of Tom Hunter (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Jim Hunter (Bass/Vocals), Emily Howarth (Guitar), and Zach O’Loughlin (Drums). They had an exhilarating start to 2024, rapidly propelling their transatlantic quartet’s trajectory.
COSM has enjoyed a busy performance schedule throughout the South West of the UK. They have shared stages with some of the country’s most exciting up-and-coming acts, including Mother Vulture and Blank Atlas. They also participated in various festivals, such as Torquay’s Burn It Down Festival, Wanderfal, and Whisper Fresher’s Fest, among others.
Discussing the EP, vocalist/guitarist Tom Hunter shares, “It’s a culmination of the emotions and experiences that came with uprooting everything in the US to move to the UK [with brother and bassist Jim]. Sound-wise it sits somewhere between psych and shoegaze, but also draws all sorts of influences from the last fifty years of music and culture. It’s been pretty liberating to take away the rules and focus on writing. These tracks came about just when I needed them the most.”
The singles ‘Weightless’, ‘Say About Me’, and ‘Reverberate’ are available to stream now. COSM is touring the UK throughout October and November. The COSM EP will also be released on vinyl via Krautpop! on 11th November ‘24.
