Battleflagg, the innovative project led by Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter Jeff Hartwig,  has released their highly anticipated EP, “Solastalgia.”

This latest offering continues Battleflagg’s mission to blend traditional rock instrumentation with ambient synths, drum loops, and samples, creating a unique soundscape that resonates with listeners across the Heartland, Americana, and Indie rock genres.

Conceived during a time of personal, social, and political unrest, Battleflagg emerged as a collective of like-minded musicians and visual artists. The project was born out of Hartwig’s desire to regain agency and combat the creeping cynicism of the pandemic era. With “Solastalgia,” Battleflagg delivers heart-on-sleeve lyrics and arena-sized, sing-along choruses that invite audiences to connect on a profound level.

The EP was co-produced by Daniel Knowles, known for his work with Sharon Van Etten and Cigarettes After Sex, alongside Battleflagg. Recorded over 18 months, “Solastalgia” features an impressive lineup of musical collaborators, including members of The War on Drugs, Ethel Cain, Japanese Breakfast, and Elvis Costello. This diverse array of talent contributes to the EP’s rich and expansive sound.

Jeff Hartwig’s musical journey is as storied as it is diverse. From opening for the Ramones with King Flux to sharing stages with Americana and Indie acts like Third Eye Blind, Cake, and Train, Hartwig has consistently pushed the boundaries of his musical expression. His collaboration with Brit-Award winning producer Chris Potter on Battleflagg’s debut EP, “The Blood Meridians,” set the stage for the ambitious and collaborative spirit of “Solastalgia.”

Battleflagg’s latest EP is a testament to Jeff Hartwig’s ability to craft anthemic songs that resonate deeply with listeners. It’s a must-listen for fans of heartfelt and innovative music. “Solastalgia” is now available on all major streaming platforms. Fans and new listeners are invited to experience the EP’s powerful blend of genres and its message of resilience and hope.
