Cinema Music Group (CMG) is a Los Angeles-based production house born from the shared passion and decades-long collaboration of music veterans Dave Resnik and Niko Bolas. With a combined history of working alongside legendary artists like Neil Young, Mavis Staples, and Don Henley, CMG is built on capturing music the old-school way: live in the room, with minimal takes and maximum emotion.

Dave Resnik, a seasoned composer for major networks such as ABC and CBS, has performed with icons like Ricky Martin, Donna Summer, and Sonia Dada. His experience extends to A&R, where he signed bands like Kyuss and collaborated with Lucinda Williams. Niko Bolas, a legendary producer and engineer, boasts a résumé that includes working with James Taylor, Sting, Billy Joel, KISS, and a long-standing partnership with Neil Young.

In 2021, following a heartfelt reunion at a friend’s wake, Dave and Niko launched CMG with a mission to reimagine classic songs and produce new music with both established and emerging artists. Operating out of their LA studio, The Surf Shack, CMG quickly earned the nickname “the cover guys,” collaborating with talents like Chris Pierce and Charlie Greene to breathe new life into timeless tracks.

Their latest and most ambitious endeavor, Heart of Gold Volume 1, is a heartfelt tribute to Neil Young’s music. This compilation features covers by celebrated artists including Fiona Apple, Brandi Carlile, The Doobie Brothers, Eddie Vedder, and Mumford & Sons. What began as a one-off session with Chris Pierce evolved into a full-scale benefit project, created with Neil Young’s blessing, to support The Bridge School—a groundbreaking nonprofit that aids children with severe speech and physical impairments through assistive technology.

Each artist personally selected the Neil Young song they covered, with most tracks recorded in just one or two takes, preserving an intimate, live-in-the-moment feel. Through a distribution deal with Killphonic Rights, CMG has already raised $100,000 for The Bridge School, with Heart of Gold Volume 1 available now and Volumes 2 and 3 on the horizon.

Beyond this remarkable project, CMG continues to craft meaningful, soulful music. They are currently producing a new Chris Pierce album and curating a protest song compilation featuring artists like Draco Rosa, furthering their mission to create music with purpose and heart.

CMG isn’t just a production house—it’s a movement to preserve the authenticity and soul of music, one track at a time.
