Born in Mexico and raised in Texas, Sara Angel’s journey into music began almost as soon as she could walk. The daughter of acclaimed Christian artist Priscila Angel and Los Temerarios frontman Gustavo Angel, Sara was immersed in a world of melody and rhythm from an early age. “I grew up seeing them work, hearing them sing songs and then singing with them,” she recalls. By the third grade, she was already penning her own songs, but it wasn’t until her senior year of high school that her passion crystallized: “I was like, ‘Okay, I really want to do this.’”
After graduating, Sara moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University, eager to hone her craft in the heart of the music industry. Just a year later, she took a leap—taking a leave of absence to join her father on tour, an experience that solidified her commitment to music as a full-time pursuit. As she built a growing fan base on TikTok—some drawn by her family legacy, others discovering her through viral pandemic-era clips—Sara’s unique voice began to shine. Releases like her bilingual cover of her father’s classic “Creo Que Voy a Llorar” highlighted her effortless ability to move between English and Spanish, indie pop and Latin influences.
Now, at 22, the Nashville-based singer-songwriter returns on June 6th with “what’s love?”—a haunting indie pop ballad that lingers in love’s afterglow. Balancing raw vulnerability with restrained intensity, the track captures the quiet unraveling that follows a fractured relationship, exploring the devastation of holding onto someone who once felt like home but has slipped away. Through poignant lyrics and evocative melodies, “what’s love?” asks the unanswerable: how do you forget what was once everything?
Angel shares, “‘What’s Love?’ is about loving someone who’s already gone. It’s holding onto memories that still feel real, even when you know they’re not coming back. It’s the kind of love that hurts because it never had a chance to stay.”
Blending indie pop, R&B, and Latin sounds into a style that’s nuanced, atmospheric, and unmistakably hers, Sara Angel is forging her own path—one that honors her roots while looking resolutely forward.
