Film News: Hood River Entertainment Ignites Anticipation with Jackrabbit Production

Hood River Entertainment is thrilled to announce that production is underway on Jackrabbit, an electrifying mystery-comedy-thriller written and directed by the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning Ballard C. Boyd (The Late Show with Stephen Colbert). With the creative force of Boyd at the helm, audiences can expect a truly unforgettable cinematic experience!

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of producers Andrew van den Houten, Clara Peterson, and Ballard C. Boyd, with MJ Bernier co-producing and Alex Cirillo and Dani Faith Leonard executive producing, Hood River Entertainment has successfully closed financing for the project. 79th & Broadway Entertainment will be handling both domestic and international sales, ensuring Jackrabbit reaches audiences everywhere.

The film boasts an exciting cast, including Kuhoo Verma (Plan B, Murder Mystery 2), Taylor Ortega (Another Simple Plan, The Four Seasons), Soojeong Son (Kaleidoscope, Servant), Saamer Usmani (3 Body Problem, Inventing Anna), and Mark Gessner (NCIS: New Orleans, Super Pumped).

Set in the vibrant heart of New York City, Jackrabbit follows investigative reporter George (Verma), who, after moving to NYC and needing a roommate, finds herself living with Trish’s (Son) city bestie, Avery (Ortega)—an aspiring actress with a knack for chaos. When their mutual friend Trish mysteriously vanishes, George and Avery are forced to put aside their differences and join forces to uncover the truth. What starts as a comedic clash of personalities quickly spirals into a suspenseful journey full of secrets, surprises, and the discovery that sometimes, we’re stronger together.
