Raised among the cornfields of Ohio, Cheyenna’s musical roots run deep. While their upbringing was shaped by midwestern religious traditions and Christian radio, Cheyenna secretly tuned in to country music and their father’s favorite folk legends like Dan Fogelberg and Kenny Loggins. A child of the late ‘90s and a product of 2010s country radio, Cheyenna found inspiration in artists like Little Big Town, The Band Perry, Rascal Flatts, and Taylor Swift. By age six, they had written their first song; by eleven, songwriting had become a calling.
Now a rising Nashville hitmaker, Cheyenna returns with their most personal work yet—Back To Light. The song was penned alongside Oliver Wimmer and Michael C. Fischer during a five-day writing camp in Poland—a setting more known for chill-house and dance than country. Yet, in that unexpected environment, the trio created one of Cheyenna’s most meaningful tracks. “This song is about mental health and the internal struggles we all go through when digging ourselves out of a dark place,” Cheyenna shares. “Oli and I were talking about our own stories of depression—the very high highs and really low lows artists experience. Sometimes it feels like you’re at the bottom of a well, slowly climbing back toward the light. Back To Light is a reminder to give yourself grace as you fight your way out, and trust that you’ll make it to the other side.”
