Jorja Alice Smith has never needed to shout to be heard. Her voice—soft-edged but unmissable—has always carried the kind of truth that cuts through noise, the kind that lingers long after the song ends. Born and raised in Walsall, West Midlands, Jorja began writing music at just 11 years old, and what started as a young artist shaping feelings into lyrics quickly became a path the world couldn’t ignore. In 2012, a friend uploaded her cover of Labrinth’s “Earthquake” to YouTube, a moment that led to her discovery by record producer Guy Moot—and quietly set the foundation for one of the most distinctive voices in modern British music.
.
Now, Jorja steps into a new chapter with her latest single and video, “What’s Done Is Done,” a release that feels less like a confession and more like a decision. Dropping alongside an official visual directed by longtime collaborator KC Locke, the track finds her at her most direct and self-assured—no spiralling, no pleading, no romanticising the wound. Produced by acclaimed London producer P2, the track is built around a sense of finality. “What’s Done Is Done” carries the emotional honesty that has always defined Jorja’s songwriting, while signalling a fresh sonic direction: understated, assured, and quietly powerful.
.
KC Locke’s video expands that feeling into something lived-in and recognisable, capturing the rhythm of a full night out with friends—moving between rave scenes, block parties, quiet rooftop pauses, and solitary transit shots where the city hums around you while your thoughts run loud. The visuals hold an undeniable realism, reflecting the push and pull of thinking about love and heartbreak while also losing yourself in the people and moments that keep you afloat. It mirrors the track’s emotional release: the ache doesn’t vanish, but it loosens its grip when you let life back in.
.
That sense of community is more than aesthetic—it’s the point. Featuring appearances from Jorja’s real friends, family, and collaborators from across the UK—including AJ Tracey, Knucks, Novelist, Nadia Rose, Wohdee, Specs Gonzales, Remi Burgz, the Manchester dance collective Trend Kids, and The ‘Blue Lights’ Choir—the video becomes a celebration of the relationships that have remained central to her world throughout her career. It feels like shared history on screen: familiar faces, familiar streets, familiar energy—proof that even when love breaks, life still gathers you.
.
The release arrives on the heels of a milestone year, marking ten years since “Blue Lights” first introduced Jorja’s singular voice and set the tone for a career that would shape the sound of British R&B and beyond. But “What’s Done Is Done” isn’t interested in nostalgia. It looks forward to opening a new creative chapter while carrying the emotional depth and sharp songwriting that have been present from the beginning. It also follows a run of major 2026 moments, including Jorja’s performance on the debut season of Saturday Night Live UK earlier this spring, her appearance on the soundtrack to Riz Ahmed’s Prime Video series Bait with “Price Of It All,” and the announcement that she will co-headline All Points East in Victoria Park on August 21 alongside Tems. If this single is any indication, Jorja isn’t returning—she’s arriving again, with a steadier gaze and a stronger grip on her own narrative.
