We had the pleasure of interviewing Gabriella Martinez! Check out the interview below.

Hi, Gabriella! Thank you for granting the interview. Congrats on your role in “The Immortal Wars: Resurgence.”  We know you can’t talk about the film, so let’s talk “Young Sheldon.” Your career is skyrocketing and we’re excited to speak with you about it. Tell us about your role and character.

Hi! Thank you so much for having me! “Young Sheldon” was a great set to work on and I worked with amazing actors that have become friends in real life. I starred as Kate in the episode “Killer Asteroids, Oklahoma, and a Frizzy Hair Machine,” guest starring Jason Alexander.  Kate is in the high school play alongside Sheldon.

What is her personality like?

Kate is a rowdy orphan in the school play.  She gets easily frustrated when plans don’t go her way but stands up for what she believes in.

What role does Kate play in “Young Sheldon?”

Kate is Sheldon’s classmate and takes part in the school play. She is a great supporter for Sheldon when his stage fright kicks in.

You also play the role of Valerie in “1 Interrogation” with Tom Arnold.  Tell us about the role.

Valerie is a suspect in the interrogations that occur in room 1 of the Police Precinct. My ex-boyfriend, J. Wellington, in the film had gone missing and turned up dead. It was an emotional scene because I had discovered that he was gone.

How did you get the role?

The Director, Dan Hewitt Owens, had an acting school that I would attend. He called me and offered me the role and said we would start filming the next day, so I said yes!

What is going to surprise people about her?

Valerie is an affluent and high maintenance girl who J. Wellington had a hard time keeping up with. They were always on and off. Often times she was jealous that J. would spend time with his friends instead of her. A surprise about her is that she knows more than she is letting on.

Without giving anything away, what’s your favorite line of dialogue and why?

It is hard to choose my favorite line of dialogue because there is an incredible arc that is written throughout the whole scene. I would say that when Valerie is describing how sure J is of himself and she did not expect the outcome of her relationship.

When looking back on the production, what resonated with you the most and why?

The film is a great story about finding the truth, redemption, and defiance in people. I really discovered the genre of suspense with this film. Experiencing and working on this film has brought me more knowledge to take with me along my career.

What do you enjoy most about your character and role?

Valerie is a handful but she is learning from her mistakes. It is important for characters to make mistakes and show the reality of teen life. This way the audience can relate and grow in their own lives.

Do you have anything else you would like to share about upcoming projects?

I am currently working on a feature film called “Real Talk,” as well as a short, alongside my amazing friends Nick Alvarez and Fabrizio Guido.  I’m keeping a positive mindset and looking forward to what the future holds.
