Sissy Sheridan

We had the wonderful opportunity to speak with actress Sissy Sheridan. Check out the interview below.

Hi, Sissy! Thank you for granting the interview. Congrats on your role as Angie in TV series “Chicken Girls.” What inspired you to become an actress?

Thank you for the interview! My mom says from the time I could walk and talk I was always entertaining. I got a toy keyboard with an attached mic for my 4th Christmas and I rocked that thing like I was in front of a sellout crowd of 100,000 people! I loved it until it literally fell apart from overuse. I was in a costume every day and went through a huge wig phase. All styles and colors of wigs – Amazon has a great selection!! Because of my energy and flair for the dramatic, she signed me up at 6 for a theatre camp and I’ve been trying to tell people stories ever since.

Tell us about Angie. Who is she? What is her personality like?

Angie is the queen of the Attaway drama department. She’s talented and smart and a bit of a diva. She loves the theatre and is a perfectionist.

What role does Angie play in the movie?

Angie plays Juliet, the lead in the school musical “Rodeo and Juliet.”

Was it a challenge to play Angie?

In some ways yes and some ways no. I identify with her desire for everything to go perfectly, her passion for theatre. She was fun to play though because she’s so overly dramatic about everything! There was a lot of eye rolling. [LOL] I’m not like her in other ways because I’m outgoing, friendly, and inclusive. I also know from experience that there are no small parts, only small actors.

How did you get the role?

My manager sent in several video audition tapes to casting. I heard back that I booked the role while on vacation with my family in the Cayman Islands.

What makes “Chicken Girls” so special?

The show is a good mirror for what it’s like to be a teenager today. In some ways, it’s like what our parents went through, friendships, romance, growing pains and in other ways totally different. Social media is a huge presence in teen’s lives today and that comes with its own set of challenges.

What is going to surprise people about Angie?

Well, without giving too much away, she leaves the musical production for a bit… will she return? You’ll have to watch to find out!!

Without giving anything away, what’s your favorite line of dialogue and why?

“Does she even know how to zip zap zop?” It’s from a scene where I’m leading the Rodeo and Juliet cast during warmups. It’s an actual theatre game I grew up playing.

When looking back on the production, what resonated with you the most and why?

I really liked doing a musical within a show. It was a unique idea and since my background is in musical theatre it was so relatable. I loved the dramatic/comedic script, meeting the other cast members and being directed by Nayip Ramos our witty director.

In your opinion, what scene in the series is going to blow people away and why?

It’s impossible to pick just one. There’s so much tea in Season Three. I’d have to say there’s a scene in every episode. Lots of characters undergoing change.

What do you enjoy most about your character and role?

A lot of times in acting you have to watch not being “too” dramatic, so getting to play a character who overreacts to everything was fun to explore. Angie is over the top in everything she does. There’s a scene where she opens a door to the school – the entrance in itself shows what a boss she thinks she is.

Do you have anything else you would like to share about the movie?

It’s fun and because it’s on YouTube – you can watch it anytime, anyplace! You can find me @itssissysheridan, SISSY SHERIDAN on YouTube, and sissysheridan.com.
