Back from a successful festival circuit run, acclaimed DJ, Creator, Producer and Director D.W. Waterson and TOUCHPOINT Films launch the third and final season of the highly anticipated award-winning web series THAT’S MY DJ this July 7, 2017.

From heartbeat to heartbreak, chasing dreams and chasing highs, THAT’S MY DJ is an unapologetic look at the new order of rave. Fans can expect a darker turn this season as D.W. Waterson puts the spotlight on the dangers of party narcotics. Season three follows Sam played by Jade Hassouné (SHADOWHUNTERS) in his quest to be the breakout producer/DJ of Toronto. After successfully creating Home Brew with Meagan played by Emily Piggford (KILLJOYS, THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE) and garnering some buzz, Sam knows it’s time to lock himself down in studio mode. But with his buddy Lucas, played by Nico Racicot (L’HEURE BLEU), tempting him out to parties and his Achilles heel for women and booze, Sam struggles to balance work and pleasure. Jade delivers a raw and gut-wrenching performance portraying Sam’s quick downward spiral as he gets sucked into the world of substance abuse.

“The show is definitely much heavier this season. I wanted to end the series with a bang,” says D.W. Waterson. “I think the issues we address here will stick in people’s minds and open up important conversations that need to be had. In season three, we are dealing with a topic that is a reality in today’s party scene and something that everyone needs to take more seriously. We are so proud of this season and we know our fans and viewers will not be disappointed.”

Season three also brings back favorites Kristian Bruun (ORPHAN BLACK, MURDOCH MYSTERIES) and Kelly McCormack (11.22.63, BARN WEDDING) and introduces Vladimir Alexis (STONEWALL) as Aaron the intern. Viewers can expect original music once again with new artists who have come on board. The series is created and directed by D.W. Waterson along with executive producer Kevin Saffer and CFC alumni including Jade Hassouné, Emily Piggford, Maureen Grant (Editor) Kaveh Mohebbi (Co-Writer) and Simone Smith (Editor). The project is produced by TOUCHPOINT Films and Night is Y.

Hi! Thank you for granting the interview.  We’re excited to chat about That’s My DJ!  This is the third and final season. Tell us about your latest production.

Thank you for having me! Yes, I am so excited too, it’s crazy to think it’s been 5 years since I started this show and it’s all coming to an end. Season 3 follows Sam who struggles to balance work vs party, it is by far our darkest and heaviest season yet.

The series has received several awards. Congrats! What is the catalyst to its success?

It has been quite the whirlwind. For me, it’s all about who you surround yourself with and I am grateful to be surrounded by some of the most talented, giving, boss ass people in the industry who work their butts off to fulfill the vision I have for this show. Good people, hard work, loving what you do and a strong vision I believe equals success.

What inspired you to create That’s My DJ?

Being a DJ myself I found myself looking around the clubs and bars thinking there are so many interesting characters set against this colorful background, why isn’t anyone telling this story?! It was that moment that inspired me to write and create That’s My DJ.

What’s next after the series end? Anything in the works?

Oh, yes, many things in the works! For me, my big focus is hey! dw my DJ persona, I will be starting to release original music in the fall and touring so very excited about that! I have been shooting a ton of music videos as well for my music as well as developing a short film and working on a feature so many things up in the air!

Is there a particular production you would love to direct?

I am a big big fan of Riverdale and Girlboss. If I could direct an episode of anything, it would be for those two shows.

Thus far, what has been the best experience working in the entertainment industry?

It has been such a rollercoaster ride of experiences working in both the music & film industry, for me the best experience has been seeing how much the fans connect with That’s My DJ, constantly reaching out to myself and the actors. On top of that most recently opening for Peaches and Years & Years have been huge highlights for me.

Complete this sentence, if I had an opportunity to do anything I want, I would do ___________.

Exactly what I am doing now 😉
