Singer-songwriter, actor, and dancer Neela is a vivacious member of the arts communities in her hometown of Vancouver and Toronto. The artist writes with bare honesty, marrying her soulful voice with luscious indie-R&B musicality. Stemming from fierce, passionate artistry, her songs explore the complexity of human emotions in the face of raw, sensual desire. She is a recipient of the TD SOCAN Incubator, VIFF Amp, and RBC Launchpad program. Neela has performed at Canadian Music Week, Indian Summer Festival, School Night, Sound On, Let’s Hear it Live, Velvet Underground, and more. With a background in theatre and dance, she brings an electric energy to her performances, the stage being one of the places where she feels most comfortable.

In 2019, she made her debut with “Lovers in Danger” produced by Juno Award-winning, Beatchild (Drake, Justin Nozuka). In 2021, released “Prelude” with 3x Grammy Award-winning producer, Chin Injeti (Eminem, Lecrae). Her upcoming, highly anticipated third EP features 5x Grammy-nominated producers, Akeel Henry (John Legend, Mary J. Blige) and Kofo (John Legend, WizKid), accompanied by a short film.

Her latest release “You’ll Never Know” revolves around the trauma of domestic violence, and the liberation that comes from healing. Neela wrote this song during quarantine, working alongside 5x Grammy-nominated Akeel Henry (John Legend, Mary J. Blige) and Kofo (John Legend and WizKid) on the production. Discussing the project she shares, “I wanted to transform this hurt and turn it into music. I realized when writing that, even if the other person will never know the harm they’ve caused, it is my job to do the healing and grow stronger for myself”.
