After finding enormous success for her previously shared efforts ‘Mysteries’ and ‘I Have Always Been In Love With You’, which garnered thousands of streams upon release as well as heavy circulation on the UK and Australian radio, US singer and songwriter Sweaty Lamarr (Tara Giancaspro) returns once again with her brilliantly infectious new single ‘Abbey, I’m Sorry I Stole Your Man’.
Sweaty Lamarr is a versatile artist whose music spans a wide range of styles, keeping her listeners on their toes. Now she returns with an Americana-driven offering ‘Abbey, I’m Sorry I Stole Your Man’. The new single sees her play the part of Jolene from the Dolly Parton classic. Underneath the warm production and captivating vocals is a true tragedy, the story of a fallen woman who was deceived into believing she found her forever. Sweaty Lamarr’s innovative and thoughtful songwriting style is evident in this unique approach to the response track.
On the inspiration behind the song’s themes, Giancaspro shares, “This song, to me, is a rebuke of the internalized misogyny that pits women against each other for the affections of men. I wanted the listener to understand that any desire on Jolene’s part to “steal” a man possibly came from toxic media and gender narratives. Jolene, in my song, has to take accountability and learn – even though she was left alone, I hope she can grow and find her true happiness in a healthier way.”
Sweaty Lamarr is the musical project of Tara Giancaspro (Jee-in-CASS-pro), a singer-songwriter who splits her time between Hoboken and Philadelphia. She began writing music and singing in March of 2020, taking voice lessons with the Matt Farnsworth Studio and opera singer Chelsea Friedlander, and watching an almost alarming number of How to play Neko Case songs guitar videos on YouTube.
Her first single ‘I Have Always Been in Love With You’ premiered in October of 2021 and hit 5k streams within three months of release. Her recent single ‘Mysteries’, produced by Jacob Blizard (guitarist for Lucy Dacus) and engineered/mixed by Lovegrove Studios, was premiered by Magnet Magazine ahead of its release on February 14, 2022. ‘Mysteries’ has been broadcast on numerous radio stations including Blow Up Radio, IndieCentric with Todd Livingston (Charlie Mason Radio), RTR 92.1 (Australia), and Beyond Radio in the UK.
Tara is writing her first novel in between 3 am songwriting sessions, being a corporate stooge, and cuddling her two cats Simone and Lugosi.
‘Abbey, I’m Sorry I Stole Your Man’ is on general release. The EP ‘A Little Bit Cuntry, A Little Bit Rock & Roll’ is expected on July 8th, 2022.
