London’s UK-Indian dream-pop group, The Music of Sound, is excited to announce the release of their powerful new single, “Shimmer,” set for August 7th, via Monochrome Motif Records.

Bringing together diverse generations, cultures, and musical backgrounds, The Music of Sound has developed a distinctive sound that blends dream pop, electronic music, and cinematic songwriting. The group consists of Gen Z musicians Sherin and Elena, alongside veteran composer, producer, and radio broadcaster Neil March. Their music has drawn comparisons to bands such as Beach House, Saint Etienne, Chromatics, and Future Islands, while also establishing a unique musical identity that stands on its own.

Originally formed by Neil March for a BBC Introducing performance at the Latitude Festival, the band has evolved from their avant-garde and post-classical roots into the immersive electro-dream-pop outfit that they are today. The current incarnation of The Music of Sound began in 2024 when South Indian vocalist Sherin moved to the UK to pursue a music career, having grown up in a culture where opportunities for young women were limited. Meeting Neil March at London’s ICMP music college was transformative for her, leading to her recognition as an “exceptional talent” by Arts Council England, which helped her secure a Global Talent Visa. This endorsement allowed her to take on the pivotal role of lead vocalist, which has significantly shaped the band’s distinctive sound. Alongside flautist Elena, the trio creates music that delves into themes of empathy, identity, anti-fascism, and social unity.

Recorded by the band and mastered by Mark L. Beazley of Trace Recordings, “Shimmer” features Sherin’s ethereal vocals paired with Elena’s haunting flute melodies, layered harmonies, and Neil’s unique piano style. The track transforms challenging themes into an uplifting and atmospheric anthem.
