Born and raised in South-Central Trinidad, John Orpheus is a multi-cultural musical artist and author. For the last year and a half, he has been writing his memoir titled SAGA BOY which will be published by Penguin Random House Canada this year.  John decided to return to music and release a companion album also entitled ‘Saga Boy’. The book and the album are built on the same themes: searching for home, for family, for love and a fly coat to wear when you get there.

His track “Fela Awoke (I Will Miss You)” is a song that means everything to the artist. The track tells a deeply personal story and more profound than anything he’s ably expressed in his through music.  He is a Yoruba from West Africa who grew up in Trinidad feeling very connected to Fela Kuti. In a year where life has been so fragile, this is his response. The lyrics, which are gracefully delivered, are light and catchy, universal and real. This track features the Yoruba word ‘madele’ which means “I will find my way home.”

“Fela Awoke (I Will Miss You)” now on all platforms.
