Kolten Kirschke was born in Sherman, Texas. As a natural entertainer, Kolten started his training in the industry at age 5. After his first local commercial, and the love for camera, he was not only training for acting, but for voice and dance, as well. Kolten continues to train and book as a triple threat and has big dreams to be on Disney one day. You can see Kolten in several commercials, films, print, and industrials and every project is just as exciting as the next.

When not working, Kolten dances for a non-profit organization called Tru Crew and supports their anti bullying campaign for youth today. He loves soccer, playing with friends, and enjoys singing across Texas. Some of his favorite hobbies include remixing music, playing the piano, and competitive dance.

Kolten KirschkeHi, Kolten! You started training in the industry at the age of five. What inspired you to become an entertainer?

My first commercial happened by accident really. We were eating at Buck Snort BarBQue in Van Alystne, Texas and they asked if I would be in their commercial. Filming and seeing myself on TV was a neat experience and I wanted to do more. I started my training at the age of 5, but I think being a part of a competitive Hip Hop group is what truly inspired me to want the stage and become an entertainer. Dancing for Hip Hop Nation Dance Academy, I can truly say was the beginning for me. Being around extremely talented people inspired me and pushed me to reach my goals.

You’re also a voice actor and a dancer. You continue to train to hone your craft. Take us through a typical day.

My days and routine can change depending on which part of the country I’m on. Every morning starts the same with home school, but when I’m back home in Texas I spend the majority of my training at Createvation. Createvation is an artist development school, where you can train across the board from industry connected staff. It’s not just about music, we are taught to think about the future and that it’s a business. I train there on a regular basis to learn voice and they have helped me with my image, branding, & social media marketing.  The development program has producers for music and video production that have done several of my video and live shows.

When I’m in Los Angeles I start with my home school and spend the majority of my training at John D’ Aquino’s Young Actors Intensives and Camps. John D’ Aquino teaches weekly classes, private coaching, workshops and summer camps which helps me to create a blueprint and set goals for my acting career. When I’m in Los Angeles I can really focus on my acting and spend time intensively training as an actor. When I’m back home I can use that time training as an artist. It seems to be a nice balance so far.

You dance for a non-profit group called Tru Crew, who supports anti-bullying. Tell us about the dance crew.

Tru Crew is a dance crew under HHN Ministries Inc., which uses dance to speak against bullying, drug use, alcohol use, all types of abuse, and suicide.  We perform at school assemblies, community events, churches and special organizations. Tru Crew is my dance family and I love the message it has for young people today “Be Tru Be You!” Tangy Lockman is head of HHN Ministries and has been my dance instructor and mentor from the beginning and I’m so happy to be a part of her mission.

We since there is a DJ in you! You love to remix music. What genres do you like to mix?

As a dancer and a singer it’s almost a must that you learn to mix and remix music to get the beats and phrases you want. It was actually a dance choreographer Keith Green that first showed me programs on my phone that I could use to mix beats and music to dance to. Most genres I like to mix, if they are considered genres, are Trap, Dubstep, and Electronic.

Kolten KirschkeLet’s talk Disney. You have a dream of appearing on the network one day. Are you interested in a particular show, or would you like your own show?

If I could land a lead role on my own show, it would truly be a dream come true. To be honest, I have wanted to be on a Disney TV show for so long any show and any role would be amazing for me! The training for these shows is a huge part of my blueprint I’m working hard to reach my goals and this is definitely one of them.

You’re appearing in commercials and film. Tell us more about these projects.

Commercials and film are so very different I have been very lucky to be a part of some amazing projects. Commercials don’t take very long to shoot maybe a day or two at the most. I think the longest commercial shoot I have worked on was for Kidz Bop, but it was so much fun I didn’t want the day to end. Another fun commercial was dancing in a candy shop for Ford Motor Co., and then getting to pick anything I wanted in the candy store! Film takes a lot longer, but it’s my favorite projects to work on. I get to use my skills, develop a character, and then see the final product, which is always an amazing feeling. Working on film never feels like work and everyone you work with becomes a part of your family since you get to spend so much time with them. My first film was Eminent. It was the first film I auditioned for and booked the role. Later, I had the opportunity to work with the same producer in another film called Hinge, many opportunities followed after that giving me the experience and training needed to further my career.

What has been your favorite project to date?

I think since Eminent was my first film it’s my favorite not to mention it is Sci-Fi which makes it even better. The action and excitement in this film made it fun to shoot and I’m still close to me set family still today. Everything was a first wearing makeup, wardrobe fitting, using props, filming, and watching playbacks, so I’ll never forget the experience and it will always be my favorite!

As for film, what types of roles do you hope to be cast in the future?Kolten Kirschke

This may come as a surprise to some people, but I tend to get cast as the bully or the son. One day I would like to play the cool guy. I would love to be in a role where I can be the singer, dancer, and the cool guy then it would be perfect. As I get older hopefully there will be more opportunities for those types of roles and it would be a nice change.

Thus far, what has been the best experience working in the entertainment industry?

It always hard to pick out the best experience in the entertainment industry, and you get to work with so many amazing talented people. If I had to pick an amazing experience, for me it would be singing to Demi Lovato, Dallas Lovato, and Wilmer Valderrama on the front row of the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood, California. In the acting industry, you get to train and work with so many famous people in the industry but singing in front of them that day and getting to see them will always be such a memorable experience.

What do you like to do between productions?

Surprisingly, I love to create animations, mainly Minecraft animations, and I am a big gamer. In my down time, I’m working on animations for people and gaming with friends online. Soccer is also one of my favorites, when I’m back home I love indoor soccer. I’ve been playing since I was three, and love indoor cause the game never stops.

Do you have any upcoming projects that we haven’t mentioned?

Just finished my latest music cover Children by Justin Beiber and I’m working on my next music video that will be out in June that you can be looking out for it on YouTube @koltenkirschke. After filming the music video I’ll be in Los Angeles again training and filming for Camp Hollywood with John D’ Aquino. Then I’ll head back to Texas the end of July. The plan is to perform at Dallas Hip Hop Fest; an urban dance convention in Texas. Combining both dance education and entertainment to inspire, educate, and encourage emerging artists.
