Shorts on Tap successfully hosted Body of Work: Body Image, Identity, Sexuality this week.   The event, presented at London’s Rich Mix arts venue included Q&As with attending filmmakers, a panel of special guests, and live music performances. This event was a landmark moment for Shorts on Tap, having spent the last decade hosting remarkable screenings, showcasing innovative filmmakers, and presenting thought-provoking shorts across venues in London, Berlin, Venice, and Tokyo.

The night showcased 15 short movies. The particularity of this film festival is the absence of a single winner and a focus on celebrating diversity and creativity. Audiences were provided with some great material that contributes to challenging and even destroying barriers and stereotypes surrounding sexuality and identity. The beauty of this night was that the filmmakers could express themselves without judgment via a great platform designed to share perspectives on life and address issues surrounding body image and identity. The movies and directors featured were:

  • All Truly Great Thoughts Are Conceived While Walking, But… – Junshu Gu
  • Allow Me To Be – Mai Hedvig Lyngby
  • At Water’s Edge – Sean Dorsey
  • Birthday Boy – Leo Lebeau
  • Blyth – Tom Dream
  • Bodily Renaissance – Claudia Lee
  • Dress Rehearsal – Claudia Vogt
  • I Am Light – Julia Schönstädt
  • Mãe – Alfred Addis • My Body – Matt Luxton
  • Not Another Bat-Mitzvah! – Anna Glasman
  • Roadman Au Pair – Louis Chan • Stone – Jake Graf
  • The Oracle – Anna Boronea and Stefano Moscone
  • Touch – Natalie Hobbons

I congratulate Shorts on Tap on its ten years, and the participants on their contributions to what was an entertaining, enlightening, and worthwhile event. I look forward to following their continued success. For further information on Shorts on Tap, and future events please visit the following links:
