Noutéka, a multidisciplinary collective in London, is excited to present its new release titled ‘Lines’. This is an ambitious album fusing the talents of 15 artists from across the city. The project encapsulates London’s world-famous underground by representing each subway line through different soundscapes that inspire their music. The first few beats were produced by the artist ‘Fro’ as he traveled the London tube, and the subsequent tracks were given the names of corresponding train lines used to conceive them. Inspired by the magical odysseys of the book Texaco, Noutéka is on a quest for independence. The collective follows the philosophy of Afro- Caribbeans who decided to reject life in the city and the plantations of Martinique once slavery was officially abolished. This group designed their own way of life, developing an independent way to survive, using ancestral knowledge as they left for the virgin hills of the island to live out this idea. These artists humbly try to honor their experience and name by being independent, producing independent authentic content and events. Kicking off the summer of 2018 with the release of the Men and Mice EP from SamPro, the collective joined forces with photographers, designers, and dancers. They have gone on to perform regularly ever since.
