Chicago hip-hop collective Pivot Gang has returned with “Location,” the infectious first single from their highly anticipated second album, due early next year. It arrives with an official music video and marks the comeback of “Chicago’s Boy Band”: Saba, MFnMelo, Joseph Chilliams, Frsh Waters and producer daedaePIVOT. It is their first full-length group project since their critically acclaimed 2019 debut, You Can’t Sit With Us.
Built on a laid-back groove, “Location” pairs smooth melodic hooks and vocal harmonies with the group’s signature rapid-fire, technical lyricism. The rhythm is sun-drenched and low-key, and over it the members trade sharp, character-driven verses about effortless connection, fierce loyalty and staying grounded amid the chaos.
With the single, the group also introduces PIVOT-TV, an immersive, multi-platform world built around their distinct personalities, their humour and the brotherly chemistry that has always set them apart.
There is news for Chicago, too. John Walt Day returns on 19 December at Thalia Hall, with the first live performance of “Location,” special surprise guests, and a 10-year celebration of Saba’s Bucket List Project. As Pivot Gang opens its next chapter, they continue to honour the foundation and legacy of late founding members John Walt and SqueakPIVOT
