Josephine Halbert’s rock and roll audio drama ‘Jim’ is now available now on Apple Podcasts.

Jim is a 60-minute play, created for radio, telling the fictional story of a transatlantic romance, set against the backdrop of the psychedelic countercultural movement of the late 1960s. It is the muse’s story, told to us from the point of view of Laura, a young aspiring English writer who remembers her love affair with Jim, a famous American rock star who she met by chance during a visit to Palm Springs in the spring of 1968, 50 years ago this year. We follow their love story over a series of their meetings in California, London, and Copenhagen that summer when Jim is on a European tour with his band at the height of their fame. In a world Laura knows nothing about, she finds herself embarking on an intense relationship with Jim, who has grown weary of the trappings of fame and his meteoric success and together they envision another life, pursuing their love of poetry, freedom, and self-discovery.

Jim is a timeless love story about the mystery and adventure of being young and falling in love, about chance meetings and how the experience of these early emotional awakenings can never leave us where they find us.  Nostalgic, evocative and universal.

Jim is the debut audio drama by artist and filmmaker Josephine Halbert for her Audio Drama by ToldbyJo Podcast and is performed by actors Charlotte Quita Jones (A Short Epic About Love) and Cesare Taurasi (The Borgias, A.D., Papadopoulos & Sons, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., A Short Epic About Love). The radio play features original music by the rock band Desert Mountain Tribe, specially commissioned by Josephine herself, to evoke a sense of the era, including a classic love song Never Stop, which the story’s musician hero writes for the heroine.

Never Stop (Live Version), the promotional video for Jim directed by Josephine, features footage of the song’s live recording by the songwriter Jonty Balls of Desert Mountain Tribe and also includes dramatized scenes inspired by the story starring the actors from the radio play. The music video premiered at the 2016 Santa Fe Film Festival where it won the award for Best Music Video and it has enjoyed success on the international film festival circuit, with over 40 festival selections and winning further awards. The song Never Stop was also awarded a Global Music Award in 2017.
