Violet Rain is an Actress, Certified Yoga Instructor, lifelong Animal & Human Rights Advocate, and Motivational Speaker on all things empowering. Violet’s limitless passion for helping others, wild spirit, and hunger to thrive has carved her into a modern-day warrior, aptly branded as a force of nature.

Violet’s diversity in film and television is driven by her unbridled passion for storytelling. Since the launch of her performing arts career, Violet has portrayed characters on hit shows and major networks, including The CW (Arrow, Batwoman), Tubi (Corrective Measures – starring Bruce Willis), ABC (Take Two), and CBC (Arctic Air). Violet made her film debut as a supporting lead in Brother, I Cry, starring Justin Rain (Resident Alien, Fear The Walking Dead) and Eric Schweig (Last Of The Mohicans, The Missing). Brother, I Cry is a harrowing First Nations account that bares the devastating effects of haunting addictions, for which Violet won Best Supporting Actress at the American Indian Film Festival. Her purpose within the film and TV industry is directly fueled by her philanthropic work, which has spanned over 25 years. Violet’s platform has been extensively focused on Animal & Human Rights issues, showing up not only on the ground but in the political arena as well.

Violet is a shining beacon of positivity, despite her decade-long battle with cancer. Her first diagnosis came in 2011, undergoing extensive chemotherapy followed by back-to-back radiation sessions. Since then, she has been diagnosed an additional two times, the third and most traumatic being at the start of the pandemic. The weight of multiple tumors left Violet with a collapsed right lung and fractured ribs. The bulk of an 8cm tumor pushed upon her heart, while another tumour wrapped itself around her pulmonary artery, cutting off blood flow. After multiple surgeries, Violet was admitted into the hospital enduring 36 hours of high-dose chemotherapy, followed by a transplant. Violet was on a constant morphine pump, a cocktail of pharmaceuticals, and IV feeding bags. Following her premature release from hospital, Violet blacked out above a flight of stairs, resulting in her husband, actor Justin Rain, calling 911 within 48 hours. In the following months, Violet remained in bed, weighing in at 94 pounds, wheelchair-bound, and in total isolation aside from medical staff.

After three years of enduring this particular diagnosis, the toxicity of treatment, coupled with the past diagnosis spanning over a decade, would undoubtedly break most people. But clearly, Violet is not like most people. Currently past the halfway point of treatment, Violet has six more months to go, followed by rehabilitation and close observation. Due to financial difficulties, Violet started a GoFundMe page. The length of this disease makes cancer crippling on all fronts and treatment required through Alternative and Indigenous Medicine is not covered by the government. The financial burden of not being able to work is devastating. When the sole concern turns to ‘how are we going to pay the bills, over healing’ something has to change. Starting a GoFundMe page was not an easy decision – at what point do you reach out to those who love you and ask for help – but after struggling for years battling in silence, Violet knew she needed to be exceptionally vulnerable and reach out.
